Among the many thoughts that come in one’s mind by looking at it, the foremost is affordable. The tablet has seen continuous updates with the most recent one in 2019. However, the only constant thing is the low price at which it comes. The tablet comes in unique colors, making it all the more tempting. With every advancement, there has been an improvement in its processor and storage capacity. The flexible tablet helps a great deal with daily tasks.

Performance

The internal updates to the Fire 7 tablet include revamped 1.3GHz quad-core processor and 16GB or 32GB RAM. Where the processor fast paces the working of the tablet, the storing limit is expandable to 512GB. It is remarkable since you can play your downloads offline without any interruption or slowing of the device.

The Fire 7 tablet has a 2MP front and rear camera. Although you can not compare the camera with the priced devices, they fare well for selfies and quick video chat. As the camera is not the main selling point of the tablet, bright light gets your better result. The 3.5mm headphone jack and Bluetooth supplement the mediocre sound quality.

Design and Portability

The Fire & tablet by Amazon is wrapped in a thick rubber covering, enabling it to withstand falls. The thick bezel, not preferable to all, is for gripping the tablet without tapping on the screen. It has a 7-inch IPS screen on the front. The MicroSD slot lies on the right under a retractable flap.

The tablet is small and thin and can easily fit into your car’s glove box. For those who prefer walking, the tablet takes a tiny space of your bag. The text on the tablet appears clear and crisp. However, it struggles beneath direct sunlight.

Other Consideration

The Amazon Fire OS offers some nice additions to the tablet. The Android Nougat enables picture-in-picture mode. The hands-free Alexa mode is probably the best. You can not only get your queries answered but also, the voice commands get tasks done.

By brightening up the device and opening more apps, you get about 4 hours of battery running time. With minimum use, it can work up to 7 hours. Amazon offers almost all the apps that google player has except for apps by Google.

Bottom Line

The Amazon Fire 7 is excellent for on the go office work. It has the speed and capacity to get you through light work no matter where you are. There are a few trade-offs due to the price. Nevertheless, it has many of the required essential features.

Cons
  • Huge bezels
  • Lightning port instead of the USB-C

The Apple iPad Mini’s banging entry has got competitors back to work. The portable tablet is powerful enough for daily use. If anyone belittles the 7-inch size of the tablet, Apple confesses to its frantic purchase owing to the tablet’s small size. If anything, the small size deceives the mighty chest of features that the tablet hides.

Performance

The A12 Bionic chip of the Apple tablet gives it a lightning speed. It is the same chip used in iPhone XS and XR. Whether you watch movies, play games, edit videos and photographs or do heavy office work on it, you will be more than satisfied with the speed. Even the opening of multiple apps wouldn’t devoid the device of its speed. There is a slight lack on the part of the software. The little deficiency is not of concern since the tablet sits somewhere between a phone and a laptop.

The tablet has extensive colour support so that the screen doesn’t hide any picture details. The smooth and fast scrolling on the screen is equally an attractive feature. The swift motion is due to Apple’s ProMotion. The screen is sensitive and responds without anyone having to push with it until it cracks.

Design and Portability

There isn’t much difference in the design of the tablet compared to its predecessors. The Apple mini pad has a 7.9-inch display, which offers a firmer grip to the holder. The screen is entirely laminated to protect it from accidental falls and scratches. The love-hate state of the screen is both a powerful and weak point of the tablet. Despite supporting multitasking, the side by side apps do not please the users.

Where most of the devices are bringing down the size of bezels, Apple took its risk. The thick bezels of the tablet are a throwback to the tablets of the past. The tablet is easy to carry and doesn’t weigh much. It fits into the bags easily and is light. The mini iPad is super smooth to operate and doesn’t lag.

Other Considerations

The first generation Apple pencil is easy to pick and use. It is fast and responsive and supports all apps. The battery consumption time is the standard one. It runs for 10 hours but can be slashed half by extensive use. Apple’s True Tone tech makes the tablet function impeccably even indoors. It settles the colour tone to match it with the ambience.

Bottom Line

Apple brought the updates to gear up the tablet to do so much more than any typical tablet. It is a capable device which is portable and very light.

  • The perfect battery life of 8 hours
Cons
  • Disappointing panel quality
  • Poor camera quality

Lenovo Tab 4 is one of those tablets that you can use while slouching on a sofa or travelling and feel blessed to own. The sturdy build of the tablet makes it one that will last long. Even though the tablet offers many tech-savvy features, it comes at an affordable price.

Performance

Lenovo Tab 4 runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich or Android 4.0. It has a 1.3 GHz 8032 processor which gives it a decent operating speed. The higher RAM capacity and dual sim 3G option cover-up for the high price of a single packed core. The 1 GB of RAM and in-built storage of 16 GB. You can further expand this capacity by the use of a microSD card. The expansion would allow more downloads and saving of files.

The specifications of the tablet allow checking and sending emails. While it makes for a good kids tablet, you can use it with them along with spending time with them. The camera doesn’t allow for pinning high hopes on it. The 0.3-megapixel front camera and the 2-megapixel rear camera have autofocus. Although they are not good in quality, you can expect decent pictures and videos under a bright light for better quality.

Design and Portability

The Lenovo Tab 4 tablet is feather-light. You won’t feel a thing in your hand while holding the tablet. It thus makes it a totable tablet. The design of the tablet is nothing out of the box or even a contemporary one. It has a very conventional design with thick bezels which are reminiscent of the past. The solid plastic body means it is not very delicate. You can share it with your children without fretting over damaging the tablet.

Lenovo boasts of an internal roll cage which makes them sturdier. The 7-inch screen has a 1280×720 resolution. It does an adequate job while you surf the internet, watch movies, or download books. The front and rear 3MP cameras enable face times with friends and family. The dual sim slot would cut down your roaming cost as you can use two different accounts at the same time.

Other Considerations

Lenovo comes with many preinstalled apps for you to not miss anything. There is a backup and restore facility for saving messages, call logs, apps, and contacts to the SD card. The tablet comes with all connectivity options. You have both 3G and Wi-Fi options in the tablet. A highlighting feature of the tablet is the impressive 8 hours of battery life with 3G and Wi-Fi streaming.

Bottom Line

Lenovo is an inexpensive tablet which has a sturdy built and a decent set of features. It is a bit underpowered and slow compared to the rest of the tablets. You can expect smooth functioning but only for lighter jobs.

Cons
  • Poor sound quality
  • Disappointing cameras

The ASUS Zenpad Z8s falls among the low priced tablets. The price doesn’t determine the availability of features. However, they might lack features that some of the pricey tablets have. But any good tablet is one which, with its limitations, gets you through your work. ASUS Zenpad Z8s  has familiar specs with run-of-the-mill aesthetics. Despite this, the tablet has standing among 7.9-inch tablets that can get you smoothly through your tasks.

Performance

The ASUS Zenpad Z8s  has dual-core intel atom 1.8 GHz Snapdragon CPU. The Android 4.3 is upgradable to 4.4 KitKat. In terms of performance, the tablet has basic specs. You can carry out the usual tasks of checking or drafting emails, playing not so heavy games, and streaming videos. They all work like magic. The 1536 x 2048 resolution 7.9-inch display is better than expectations. The IPS LED display is impressive.

The vivid colors, light saturation, and view angles are reasonably good. A slight improvement that would do the device good is an improvement with brightness levels. It struggles outdoors, which counts as a drawback. The device has 16GB of inbuilt storage, which extends to 64GB with the microSD card. You can enjoy online or offline videos with the space allotted for stashing in your favorite videos. Although the transition between apps can be snappy, there is no lagging down.

Design and Portability

The 7.9-inch ASUS Zenpad Z8s  has a spartan design with nothing to knock off the users. The corners of the tablet are subtly round. There are thin bezels on both sides of the display and thicker at the top and the bottom. The lower bezel has the ASUS logo imprinted on it. The rounded corners and edges make the handling of the device in any orientation easy.

The back of the device is plastic and has an attractive look. The matte finish gives a classy look despite the conventional design. The superb build of the device deceives the price tag. The buttons on the side, more tilted towards the back, are soft and comfortable to press.

Other Consideration

The Audio Wizardapp by Asus improves the otherwise tinny and low sound of the device. The app helps soundscapes and dialogues to be more clearer and adds more bass to music. The 2MP rear camera does a fine job while you chat with friends and family. The front 0.3MP camera works for selfies, but don’t expect much from it in terms of clarity and quality.

Bottom Line

The combination of solid build and good app selection makes the tablet quite excellent. It meets the expectations of a budget tablet. The limitations of the tablet don’t come in the way of swift and smooth performance, making the tablet worth a try.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A has a premium design and specifications that offer a one-stop solution. With a humble design to a vast array of functionality, Samsung has got your covered with its laudable tablet. The tablet allows multitasking and is equally suitable for both kids and adults. The tablet offers greater connectivity no matter where you are with its acing performance.

Performance

Samsung Galaxy Tab A has a 1.3 GHz Tablet Processor and 1.5GB of RAM. Together the two boost the performance of the tablet without getting in your way while you watch or stream videos. You can play games or download videos and movies. The device doesn’t lag. However, the functioning of the games does depend on the weight of the game. The device might slow down a bit by games that put extra load.

There is much educational content for the kids. The Samsung subscription helps in your child’s learning through the great content that it has to offer. Along with many other apps provided by Galaxy Essential, the preloaded radio app keeps you connected anywhere you go. You don’t have to have a Wi-Fi connection for it.

Design and Portability

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A has a plastic body. It is 4.25 inches wide and weighs 9.76 ounces. You can hold it for extended periods comfortably. The smooth matte back is pleasant to touch. At either end of the tablet, there is a headphone jack and a USB port. On the top right side of the tablet are lock and volume buttons, while at the bottom, a retractable flap hides the microSD card slot.

The 7-inch display offers clarity and detail with the 1780 x 800 screen resolution. You don’t have to empty your vaults for better resolution since the tablet performs remarkably. The colors play correctly on the screen. The 5MP rear camera captures striking pictures and is suited for video conferencing in the office, and chats with friends and family.

Other Considerations

Samsung Galaxy Tab A has TouchWiz enhancements, which makes multitasking more manageable by the MultiWindow feature. You get two hits with a shot. There is a single speaker at the rear of the device. The sound level of the tablet is low and weak. It can even get blocked by any solid substance or when the tablet is laid flat on a hard surface.

The battery life of the device is praiseworthy. You can use the device straight for 11 hours without charging. The storage capacity is only 8GB, but you can always shore it up with a microSD card. The parental control lock keeps a check on your children and protects your files as well.

Bottom Line

Samsung Galaxy Tab A is worth every penny. The tablet has both speed and power to help you with the daily work. It is excellent for the kids too.

Cons

  • The plastic body creaks

The recent Lenovo Tab E7-7″ has seen a slight modification to the previous Lenovo tablets. Lenovo is known for introducing high-quality and superior functionality products. The Lenovo Tab E7- is one such addition. The lightweight of the tablet doesn’t affect the performance.

Performance

The E7 has a 1.3 GHz quad-core android CPU. The processor, therefore, makes your movie and gaming time more enjoyable. The transition between apps and their running is smooth. There is no lagging time that might irritate you. Games run equally swiftly on the tab. There might be a slight issue with hardware-intensive games, which might slow down the tablet a bit.

The 7-inch display has a higher resolution of 1024×600 . The screen, thus, offers a detailed picture so that you do not miss anything. The high display brightness and excellent contrast allow outdoor usage of the tablet as well. The in-plane switching technology gives remarkable viewing angles.

Design and Portability

The Lenovo Tab E7 has an impressive design. The greyish-silver plastic back feels good in the hands. A chrome plate effect strip makes the edges of the tablet. The Lenovo logo is embossed at the top of the backside. The mundane and spartan thick bezels surround the display. They host the speaker and the front-facing camera along with the logo.

As much as the design awes the users, the tablet would have done well with a bit of robustness. The minor bleeding around the screen doesn’t affect the overall commendable experience. The camera doesn’t have a flash with it, so taking pictures in the dark is difficult. Unless you have any other light source, expect some grainy photos.

Other Considerations

The tablet has 8 GB of inbuilt storage. Half of it is consumed by the preinstalled features. There is no expandable storage for you, which is a serious downside of the device. There are connectivity options in the shape of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 3G availability.

The Lenovo Tab E7 has a dual-camera option. No matter which device one has. The liberty to take pictures is probably cherished in all. The 5MP rear camera makes recording videos, holding conferences, or taking photographs. The 1.6MP front camera does a decent job taking selfies or allowing facetime with friends and family.

Bottom Line

The heads turning tablet is excellent looking. The Lenovo Tab E7 tablet fares well. It is perfect for light work and streaming of videos. Downloading might not be preferable owing to the short space left by the preloaded apps.

Cons

The popularity of the tablets makes the reason for the cut-throat competition, which has prompted many into action. The Genuine Nextbook Premium 7SE tablet understands the trend that took away people from PCs to the tablet. The device that falls between the two comes equipped with all the right features as well as affordability. For some, the prime reason is the price itself. Therefore the tablet has features that don’t leave them deprived.

Performance

The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the tablet doesn’t keep you waiting at any point in a movie or a game. The smooth functioning of the tablet makes it an excellent tablet for both adults and children. Fast processing also enables multitasking so that you get to do more with the small device. The storage of the Genuine Nextbook Premium 7SE tablet will not excite. The 8GB internal storage limit comes half consumed by the preinstalled apps. It leaves a meagre space for personal use.

The Genuine NoteBook has a dual-camera system. The 0.3MP front camera has results good enough for video chats with friends and family. Distance now can not stop you from being a part of any occasion. The rear camera has a 1MP resolution. The images taken are clear and bright. They, however, do not compete with the more expensive ones.

Design and Portability

The Genuine Nextbook Tablet has a shiny black surface that your hands would love holding. The 7-inch display is surrounded by thick bezels. While other tablets look towards reducing this thickness, the bezel design reminds tablets of the past. The glossy and shiny surface at the back of the tablet has a Nextbook logo at the bottom right.

At the top front is the front camera just above the display. The volume and lock buttons are on the side of the tablet. The tablet feels feather-light in hand. You can hold it for longer durations without feeling anything—the size hints to the longer video chats that are possible without tiring your hands. The small size makes the tablet highly portable. It just weighs 1.6 pounds. You can carry it in your bag or purses, without overcrowding them.

Other Considerations

The higher connectivity options of the tablet enable you to stay in touch every time, everywhere. It has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi options. You can easily share or receive videos, files, songs, or movies. Despite the limitation of the internal storing capacity, you can use a microSD card to expand it to 32GB if need be. The built-in 3000 polymer battery increases the lifespan of the tablet.

Bottom Line

The Genuine Nextbook Premium 7SE tablet runs well to give you an excellent experience. You can download movies, play games, stream videos without fearing the device to stutter. The bright and clear picture quality makes your work and entertainment time more enjoyable.

Cons

The tablets serve both as a work and entertainment device. The HP 7 G2 1311 7-inch tablet comes with a combination of both. You don’t have to hide your phone from kids anymore, as the tablet offers all that they want and that too in a secure environment. Speed and good looks meshed together to form the HP 7 G2 tablet.

Performance

The HP 2 G2 is powered by the A7 Quad-core processor with 1 GB of RAM. The performance of the processor is a pleasant shock to the users. It fares well enough for you to carry all your essential tasks without as much as a hiccup. It has an 8GB of storage capacity, which can be notched up to 32GB with the use of a microSD card. Therefore, there aren’t any barriers to downloading your favorite movies, games, or sharing of a document with a colleague.

The tablet has a 1280 x 720 resolution display. Although it is not as good as many other tablets offer, the picture quality is clear and crisp. The bright and balanced colors of the tablet keep the essence of the videos or games intact along with your interest.

Design and Portability

The handsomely designed frame of the tablet is strong and sturdy. It has a soft-touch stainless back. The stainless back case ensures there aren’t any dirty fingerprints or impressions at the back of the casing. The speakers of the device are at the bottom edge of the tablet, next to the USB port. The thick bezel wraps the top and bottom of the display, whereas they thin out on the sides. The bottom of the bezel bears the HP logo.

The tablet looks heavy but is light in hand. It weighs 8.8 ounces. You can move around with the tablet as you record a video or chat with your friends or colleagues. The tablet won’t tire your hand. The small size of the tablet equally makes it easy to keep it inside your bag without forcing it in.

Other Considerations

The Battery life of the tablet depends on the length of time and usage. If you are multitasking or opening up a lot of apps at one time, you can expect the battery to drain soon. The Hp 7 G2 tablet runs for a good 5.5 hours with extensive use. It has a 2MP rear camera that can record mediocre videos and capture decent photos.

Bottom Line

HP did a commendable job introducing the HP 7 G2 tablet. The lower-resolution screen and modest battery time are not the desirable features. However, overall the tablet functions smoothly enough to be your companion while working or travelling.

  • Good battery life
  • Responsive touchscreen
Cons
  • Sloppy software
  • Third-party support is disappointing

Blackberry gives as much a tough competition as Apple and Google. It is this competition that the ears stand up if it catches wind of Blackberry introducing a product. The Blackberry fans consider the Playbook to be an iPad killer. The souped-up operating system of the Playbook gives this confidence to its users, and perhaps rightly so!

Performance

The single most powerful feature of the Playbook is its operating system. Not only is it multitasking dynamo, but it brings in a dramatic change to all the Blackberry products with the same OS. The hardcore specs of the Playbook include 1GHz dual-core CORTEX A9, 1GB of RAM, and flash storage configuration of 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB. The tablet is smoking fast to help you get by your tasks in a snap.

The display of the device has a screen resolution of 1024 x 600. The capacitive touchscreen doesn’t require forcing of actions. It is responsive and sensitive to touch. The strikingly brilliant colours and deep dark ranges bring together a vibrant screen.

Design and Portability

It is the smallest tablet, which is both a blessing and a bane.  The tablet is 5 inches tall and 7.5 inches wide. It is only 0.4 inches thick, which makes it very slim. There are no buttons at the front of the tablet. All the navigation controls lie on the screen only. The 0.7-inch thick bezel surrounds the 1024 x 600 resolution screen. The screen is bordered by slender stereo speakers.

The design does come with a bit of a drawback. The power/wake button at the top is difficult to press. It is so small that you have to whittle down your fingertip to reach the button. In case you use a covering on the tablet, you can imagine the struggle.

Other Considerations

You will be bowled by battery life. It is outstanding.  Even with a high brightness level, Wi-Fi connectivity, and online streaming, the battery lasts 11 hours. The Playbook has dual-camera. The front-facing camera is 3MP while the rear camera is 5MP.  The fixed focused cameras take away the joy though. However, the clarity and colour reproduction are excellent. You can expect a decent quality but nothing amazing.

The Blueberry Playbook has a remarkable stash of apps. The calendar app updates you of all your important events and days so that you don’t miss anything. The contacts app, on the other hand, has a few tricks up its sleeve. You can sync profile information with other social media accounts. You can also sync it with the calendar app to remind yourself of any meetings.

Bottom Line

The Blackberry Playbook is a solid device with some heavy specification. It has a new operating system which is quite promising in terms of performance. However, its size diminishes its otherwise capable features.

Alcatel A30 tablet is a new and enduring Android device. The Android devices are for media consumption, and the Alcatel A30 openly embraces the idea. It offers cellular connectivity on T-mobile along with many other striking features that it has to offer.

Performance

The Alcatel A30 tablet is fueled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor clocked at 1.1GHz. It is a basic chipset that scored well on many of the tests that were run on it by the experts. You can expect smooth functioning of videos, movies, internet surfing, and music. The device would stutter under a load of hardware intensive apps and games.

The 2GB of RAM gives you the liberty of multitasking. There will be slight hanging of the device between the transitioning of apps. The serviceable dual camera is good enough for taking selfies or recording videos. The device runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, which means is more up to the minute than most other tablets.

Design and Portability

Alcatel A30 is a robust and sturdy slab of plastic that has a textured back panel. The 12.7-ounce weight makes it a bit heftier compared to other tablets. Despite the plastic body, there are no creaking sounds. Thus, it is safe from breakage due to accidental falls. You can even hand it over to children without the covering. At the top of the tablet, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack along with a micro USB charging port.

At the bottom right corner, there is a single mono speaker. The sound of the tablet is not very high. Given the position, it can be easily muffled. The standard 1280 x 800 IPS display brings you crisp and clear image quality.

Other Considerations

The MaMaMouth Alcatel A30 tablet folio case cover comes with the tablet. It easy to clean and safe. It’s cushioned front and back spread shields protect your tablet from scratches and falls. It has cellular connectivity. It includes Wi-Fi on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. The colours, however, appear a bit washed on the screen. The brightness levels make it challenging to use the tablet outdoors.

It has a 4000 mAh battery that works uninterruptedly for a good 14 hours. The battery is the attractive feature of the tablet. The inbuilt storage of 16GB makes stockpiling personal data simple. The MicroSD card further gives you more room to avoid cramming and slowing down of the device.

Bottom Line

The Alcatel A30 is costly compared to other tablets with similar features. The mixing of 2GB of RAM, an IR blaster, decent display, and good battery life gives you a sturdy tablet to use.
