Cons
  • It has pressure and tilt issues
  • Requires color calibration

XP-PEN Artist 15.6 Pro is a recent addition to XP’s line of drawing monitors. Although it boasts of arguably few of the best features, from weight to the presence of a battery-free pen, there are minor lackings that hold back its performance. Nevertheless, dive in to see whether it’s worth the appreciation.

Performance

The effortless drawing performance of the tablet is due to the battery-less stylus. The pen boasts of 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity. It enables you to draw lines of any weight without the pressure levels fluctuating.

The pen possesses 60-degree tilt functionality. However, it is less sensitive compared to the tablet’s contenders, requiring a larger activation force. Despite the minute deficiency, it isn’t exactly a deal-breaker, since a lot depends on your drawing and painting techniques.

Portability

The portable tablet measures 17.44 x 11.02 x 0.51 inches, weighing 3.31 pounds. You can carry it around easily. Since it is not a stand-alone device, you can keep it in your bag and take it to your office or any space you work in and connect it to a computer or laptop.

The extremely light monitor is so thin that it is mistaken for a tablet. The monitor requires less power to operate and uses a USB port to power up.

Display

The 15.6 inches screen comes with a covering that shields the matte screen protector beneath it. The matte screen reduces reflections to avoid distractions while you are at work. You might feel the sharpness of the screen reduced on the matte display. However, it adds texture to your drawing.

The IPS panel produces vibrant colors that are viewable and do not change from different viewing angles. It has an impressive 84 percent color gamut that has decent functionality. With a resolution of 1920 x 1080, you will get dazzling details on a wider screen.

Other Considerations

The monitor has eight shortcut keys to take you to the settings and present you with customizable options. With faster access to the controls, your work is more manageable, and the workflow is not interrupted.

There is a stand that enables you to work efficiently and comfortably without putting much strain on your eyes. Your hands won’t shake or stiffen with the comfortable position of the stand. There is no need for a power brick.

Bottom Line

The XP-PEN Artist 15.6 is an affordable tablet-screen that is compatible with both mac and windows. It is responsive and works aptly to bring out your artistic skills for the world to see. However, it suits the needs of a hobbyist or beginner.

Cons

  • Smart keyboard is expensive

You should brace the New Apple iPad as a larger-screened member of the iPad family. The tablet has no other changes and is just the brand-new version of the older iPad. However, the intuitive operating system makes it a high productivity machine that doesn’t cost you a fortune.

Performance

The device is prepared to not only multifunction but to handle rigorous apps, light editing, and 3D games. The A10 Fusion chip powers the tablet. It is the same as in iPhone 7 and iPod 7th generation, so if you are looking for more raw power, there are other options. That doesn’t mean this new Apple model is a clunker.

The RAM in this model has seen a bump up to 3GB from 2GB. The Geekbench scoring shows that despite the A10 chip being old, the iPad has features and functionality to be an adequate basic iPad. It has an internal storage of 32GB where you can store all the images that need editing or other multimedia.

Portability

The enticing iPad measures 10.35 x 7.28 x 1.93 inches with a weight of about 1.9 pounds. It is light enough to travel with you making it the preferred companion of someone whose skills shine out more amidst nature.

True to its words, the tablet gives an impressive running time of 10 hours, where you can work, play, or surf the internet uninterrupted. A slight hitch is the long hours that the device takes to charge. It takes 4 hours to get the battery to 100%.

Display

You will get to see a bit more screen with the Apple iPad. It has a 10.2 inches widescreen. There isn’t much difference to the iPad apart from the size. The tablet has an LCD panel with a resolution of 2160 x 1620. You get a sharp, colorful, and bright screen with more detail and appealing results.

The tablet allows you to experience the iPadOS software. You get multi-window app support with easier to manipulate slide over and slide split functions. The App Expose lets you know all the apps that are running at the back and might be draining your battery unnecessarily.

Other Considerations

There is an 8MP rear camera that captures acceptable videos and images. The 1.2-megapixel camera at the front is disappointing. So, if you are in some serious photography, you would be looking for alternatives.

It has the iPad’s Smart Connector, which gives you the liberty to hook it up with the Smart Keyboard. The keyboard is pleasantly thin, giving you a unique experience. The Apple pencil comes with improvisation, however, with reduced latency. Despite that, it is a responsive tool.

Bottom Line

The reasonably priced Apple iPad is a tweaked up version of the previous model. It has a large screen, a compatible keyboard, and a bit more RAM. It is a brilliant device that does all the basics smoothly.

The reverence Wacom has among the artists is due to the natural and precise strokes that the tablet enables. The organized workflow that the small Wacom Cintiq Pro enables makes it worth a try. However, the review will help us determine whether it is worth thy hype or not.

Performance

We can not sidetrack the importance of a stylus, and neither has Wacom. The Wacom Pro Pen 2 has a pressure sensitivity level of 8192. The advanced pen performance and impressive tilt recognition give a lag-free tracking.

It has a nib and an eraser on the opposite ends and a two-button rocker. The pen touches the screen with a softness that does not strain your hand or demands additional force. The battery-free pen, even while sculpting intricate designs with high-resolution 3D stamps, shows minimal lagging that might go unnoticed.

Portability

The Wacom DTH1620AK0 measures 16.14 x 10.43 x 0.70 inches. With a weight of 3.30 pounds, the tablet is light enough to carry. The device is not a standalone one, so you can take it to your work stations or even to a gathering where you can connect it to the host computer.

Displays

The 16 inches Wacom Cintiq Pro provides extraordinary clarity with its high-resolution display. The 4K display and IPS technology produces precise and accurate colors on the screen. The pixel density and the contrast levels further bring out clarity.

The matte glass etched screen gives a natural feel when you stroke on the surface. There is a minimum of parallax to produce crisp and sharp images. All in all, it has great functionality that allows you to work on your favorite 2D and 3D creative software with greater control and accuracy.

Other Considerations

Wacom Cintiq Pro has foldable legs that allow significant stability to the tablet so that you can draw without the screen shaking or compromising the position of your hand. The legs are adjustable to suit your requirement in case you need to shuffle.

At the top right of the screen are soft keys that enable you quick access to the settings and control not to impede your workflow. The multi-touch gestures further speed up your work, allowing you to zoom or navigate with just a swipe of your finger.

There is an on-screen radial menu, a pen side switch as well as an Expresskey remote that you purchase separately. You use a USB-C cable to connect the Wacom monitor to a PC or Mac. Also, you can use the Wacom Link Plus adapter that connects using HDMI.

Bottom Line

Wacom Cintiq Pro is a commendable screen that has seen a lot of improvisation to perform with such accuracy and smoothness. It has a better screen than many of its rivals, as well as the previous Wacom models. It makes for a good option for beginners as well as professionals.

The HD graphics drawing monitor comes in a sleek and compact design with features that support free creation. You can draw, paint, sketch, and come up with animations with natural flawlessness. The device comes with all the features that would appeal to beginners and hobbyists alike.

Performance

The GAOMON PD1161 possesses a stylus that delivers 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity. These high pressures enable accuracy and reduce lag to a minimum. It also results in smoothness that gives your hand more control over the movements and strokes on the screen.

The pen comes without a battery that saves you from the fear of running out of power just when you are about to give a freehand to your artistic self. The perfect grip on the pen is due to the non-slip design for a more genuine pen-on-paper experience.

Portability

The tablet is light and easy to carry. Measuring 15.8 x 9.5 x 2.9 inches and with a weight of 4.14 pounds, it is a relief to artists and graphic designers. Its compatibility with both Windows and Mac allows you to carry it to work or to a friend’s so you can set it up with any PC or laptop and get the job done.

Display

The remarkable 11.6 inches screen is IPS high definition one. The LCD screen has a 1920 x 1080 resolution with an aspect ratio of 16:9. The active area measures 256.32 x 144.88mm, where you can draw or throw in colors to turn your thoughts into reality.

The report rate of the GAOMON tablet is 266RPS. It comes with a screen film that protects the monitor from scratches and enhances your user experience with the smoothness that it enables. You can witness the details of your work with superb visual clarity.

Other Considerations

What gives you uninterrupted access to applications and programs with the liberty to customize the settings, are the 8 keys that sit next to the screen. The customizable keys quicken your work by the easy access to settings. There are eight replacement nibs in the pen holder.

Bottom Line

GAOMON PD1161 has exceptional running. As a beginner, you will get to learn to work on a couple of useful applications that will be a step in the right direction. However, even if you are a professional, the fluency that the device enables will make it an equally fair deal for you.

5. HUION Kamvas PRO 13

Pros
  • Speedy performance
  • Stand included
  • Textured screen
  • Anti-glare coating
  • Useful side buttons
Cons
  • Tilt transition needs improvement

Huion Kamvas Pro 13 has recently hit the market. With its top of the line features and competitive price, the tablet is quite appealing. Although the specs seem to be tantalizing, let’s find out whether they live up to the expectation or not.

Performance

What provides a smooth drawing experience is the pressure sensitivity level of 8192. It allows a swift transition from thin to thick lines to give you more control over the pen strokes. It handles the changes in pressure applied efficiently without prolonging the action.

The tilt transitions might disappoint you compared to the otherwise smooth performance the pen delivers. The smooth surface of the tablet offers a texture that benefits flawless pen movement upon the screen, and the nibs do not wear out before time as well.

Portability

HUION measures 10.24 x 16.93 x 3.15 inches and weighs 5.51 pounds. You won’t have much trouble in taking the monitor with you no matter where you go. Being not a standalone tablet, it gives you the freedom to pair it up with any PC’s or laptops—a definite incentive for frequent travelers.

Display

The decent looking tablet comes in dark color schemes and a silver rim at the front. The smooth matte texture offers resistance that helps in the swift and effortless movement of the pen. The smooth surface is part of the screen and not the protector, so you can’t take it off. It is an integral part of the monitor.

The screen surface also works as an anti-glare display, so there is no reflection to hinder your work in case you choose to work under the light. The screen offers the right colors, however, the blues are a bit too dark.

Other Considerations

The silver tablet back has two long rubber feet that adjust the tablet in a position to make up for a stand. With these legs, you can firmly draw, sculpt, or edit without the tablet shaking or losing stability. On the side of the tablet, you will find four programmable buttons and a touch bar.

There is a USB Type-C port that enables plugging in any direction. A cable that supports the USB Type-A port and HDMI on a PC comes with the packaging, along with a longer cable for power outlet. A tablet stand comes along with the tablet that has stronger legs and doesn’t slide.

Bottom Line

HUION is a decent alternative to many of the rival tablets, as well as few of the high-end tablets. It gives you maximum freedom to create designs and edit photographs. You can jazz up your snaps through beautiful features that the device offers without any waiting.

Performance

The beautifully balanced new Pro Pen 2 is light and comfortable to hold. It performs four times better than any other pen, and its precision makes it stand out. As compared to all previous pens, this one is known for its high accuracy and the pressure sensitivity of 8192.

With zero parallaxes, you get the real pen-on-paper experience. The apt hardware for all the creative gurus out there enables smooth functioning of the tablet without any hurdles. However, the software glitches do cause trouble as the device at times refuses to recognize touch and pen input.

Portability

The tablet feels like a drawing sheet measuring 26.65 x 15.50 x 1.90 inches. It weighs 15.87 pounds. Though it is thin, it is not a monitor that you can easily carry, given the size. You have to be careful while you move around with it.

Display

Wacom Cintiq Pro 24 has a sleek and stunning design. The 24-inches complete touch screen offers 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution that provides clarity. The touch screen and smooth functionality enhances your experience and gives you a more natural feel.

It has a color gamut of 99% Adobe RGB which creates a dramatic color scheme. It has its separate colorimeter to calibrate the screen. The brightness of the screen is, however, compromised a bit.

Other Considerations

  • Simple and elegant look
Cons
  • Limited graphics
  • Minor lag in the system

The deal-hunting buyers have something to look forward to now. The model comes with major tweak ups compared to its predecessors. However, given the cost, there are some lacking features that perhaps the more avid users would feel.

Performance

The device features a Quad-core processor with eight cores that clock up to 1.2GHz. The device stumbles a bit. There are occasional lags and waiting before the apps and browsers open for use. It is worrying for people who look for quick results.

It has 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage and capacity for further 512GB with the use of a microSD card. You have enough space for songs, games, and other multimedia content.

Portability

The device measures 0.29 x 6.60 x 9.50 inches. The weight of the tablet is 1lb. You can travel and still stay connected to your work and, most importantly, edit your favorite pictures while you move. It is light in weight and has smaller dimensions, so you don’t tire your hands or back.

The battery running time is commendable. It houses 2 lithium-ion batteries. It goes on straight for 10 hours without disrupting your work. Also, it doesn’t lose much energy while on standby.

Display

Samsung Galaxy Tab A has a 9.7 inches screen almost matching up with the iPad’s screen. Also, the display has a resolution of 1024 x 768. It has an LCD screen with a backlight. It gives you sharp results, without the colors getting undersaturated or muted.

However, it doesn’t have any consistent panels, and the upper portions appear to get more yellowy than the rest of the screen. These small issues are understandable, but with the price at which it comes, you pull out a fair deal.

Other Considerations

Samsung Tab A has a USB 2.0 Type-C port where you can connect all the external accessories such as a keyboard or an audio output. It has a USB cable and a charger inside the package. It also has Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity for wireless operations.

It has a 5MP camera that takes acceptable photos in light. Due to a narrow aperture, it struggles hard in low-light. It can also record up to 1080 p videos. There is also a 2MP front-facing camera. The photos are pleasing with pretty good dynamics.

Bottom Line

It does an admirable job. With an attractive metal body, an HD screen, a great battery life, and enough room to store your files, the tablet is worth trying. You can easily do all your editing and other artistic endeavors on the device.

The surprisingly nimble Huawei Mediapad T3 has basic specs. It can deal with all the basic daily tasks along with superior editing features, which makes it a helpful everyday use tablet. The beautiful metal body and the plastic frame around the screen creates an expensive look.

Performance

The device runs on a 1.4GHz Quad-core processor that matches many of the tablet’s rivals. Despite the not-so-exciting hardware, the tablet is capable of performing daily functions such as web surfing, watching videos on Youtube, and even multitasking.

The tablet has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It has an average performance and can put up with light multitasking. However, quick transitions between apps can cause the device to choke. Also, the hardware intensity affects the performance of the tablet.

Portability

The device measures 8.54 x 1.50 x 5.16 inches. Since it is an everyday tablet, it weighs 0.72lbs so that all you need to do is throw it in your bag and travel with it any time you want. It has a medium thickness, so holding it while you use it is not troublesome.

It has a 4800 mAh battery that works best for an 8-inch screen. You can use it for 15 hours straight without the device betraying you. Increasing brightness and watching HD videos take up the battery faster, but still, it goes on for a good 10-12 hours.

Display

The Huawei Mediapad T3 has an 8-inch HD screen that has a native resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The resolution is less compared to any great tablet, yet it fares well for an 8-inch screen. Whereas the text remains comprehendible, the picture quality is not as crisp and detailed as desired.

It has an acceptable visual. The color The colors are well-balanced with a solid contrast. Despite having a reflective screen, it doesn’t highlight like a mirror does to harden your task. It has a bright enough screen to use outdoors.

Other Considerations

The tablet makes use of a USB connector to charge up as well as to attach other accessories. There are a 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD card slot. In the case of an LTE, you have the option even to insert your sim card. The plastic power and volume buttons are above the card slot.

It has a single speaker close to the screen with acceptable performance. The sound quality is better when you wear headphones as compared to without them. There are two cameras, a 2MP front-facing camera, and a 5MP rear camera.

Bottom Line

Huawei Mediapad is a great entry-level tablet. Though the specs are not surprising or have any wow-factor, it pretty much handles all the light tasks efficiently. It can just help you with minor editing but nothing serious.
