  • High resolution
  • Fast processor
  • Ample storage space
Cons
  • Has lightning port
  • Small screen size

The Apple iPad Mini offers you a truly portable way to get to your movies no matter where you are. It may be deprived of the screen size, but the memory inside and computing power makes it suitable for movie storage and Netflix streaming.

Performance

The 2019 model has the A12 Bionic chip with a Hexa-core processor. So, nothing is slow despite the small size, and overheating is only experienced by prolonged use. The 3GB RAM also contributes to fastness, which is necessary when streaming. If you need to download and carry movies with the tablet, there is ample space for that.

We have the 256GB model, which provides you with all the storage you need. The iOS 12 and accompanying apps only take a fraction of the memory. If you need the Nextflix app, the iPad Mini is compatible, and it’s available on the Apple store.

Display

This is the most important aspect of movie watching. For the Apple iPad Mini, it has a small screen that is only 7.9 inches. On the other hand, the pixels rendered here are 1536 x 2048 on the resolution. That means there is no color bias regardless of how sophisticated the movie is.

You may want to include a cover if you travel most of the time, but the design is one of the sleek ones. Holding once in a while will not be a problem since space gray surface is fingerprint-resistant. Since the screen is all touch, all the gestures you need while watching are welcome.

Portability

It’s only 1.35 pounds, and the screen is 7.9 inches. Therefore, this is a tablet that you can take anywhere. It also comes with Bluetooth connectivity. If you have the wireless earphones, you will not be dealing with any wires. There is a headphone jack, though, for the wired types.

When watching movies on a tablet, you care about battery consumption, especially if you are streaming. For this model, it will keep the charge for the next 10 hours after a full charge. You may, however, get less time if you are streaming all day and night. What we like about it is that it’s small enough to throw and carry when in a hurry.

Other Considerations

Connecting to the internet is possible via Wi-Fi or cellular data. This model has 4G capability, which means you can use it to make calls and send messages as well. It may be too small to connect a keyboard, which leaves you with a touch display if you need any controls.

This tablet also comes with a lightning port. If you prefer USB-C, then that’s a flaw. On the other hand, the package comes with lighting to USB adapter to help you ease on the connections.

Bottom Line

The iPad Mini is perfect for those who need to watch movies and Netflix while on the move. If you also want something small for in-house use, it will also suit the case. It may, however, not suit those who need tablets with a bigger screen.

Cons
  • Accessories sold separately
  • Low storage space

If you need a tablet that you can combine with a keyboard at some point, then the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 is the best choice. Due to its thin nature, everything here is portable, but you need to budget more since it does not come with the keyboard, stylus, and mouse.

Performance

There is more RAM to boost the speed, even with the 1.6GHZ processor. It’s an i5 tablet, though, so you will not have a problem watching 1080p videos or streaming from the Netflix Windows app. if you are concerned by delays, then the 8GB RAM and the processor will keep things as fast as you need them.

There is less space, though, on the tablet. It comes with Windows 10 Home, and that means there is less space than the available 128 GB. So, you will only carry a few movies with you if there are other things to do with the computer. If you are using Netflix more, then storage will not be an issue.

Display

There is more screen space for the eye on the Surface Pro 6 as it renders 12.3 inches. The resolution is also one of the highest, standing at 2736 x 1824 pixels. Therefore, movies with low pixel quality (480p and below) may not be very welcome. For the high-end ones, you will not miss a single color detail.

The graphics card in play is also from Intel, so quality is not compromised. If you need to connect to a bigger screen, the tablet has a mini Display port for that. If you don’t need the tablet on your hands, the Pro 6 has a stand at the back with the Microsoft logo on it.

Portability

The tablet is quite thin, which makes it another portable computer. It’s also 1.7 pounds only so, it will never be a piece of baggage when you are moving from one place to another. The only thing it will need on the platinum-colored tablet is a space to fit in the 12.3-inch screen.

Most of the accessories (the docking keyboard, stylus, and mouse) are sold separately. So, if you get the tablet only, you will need extra cash if you also need the items. As for the battery life, the Microsoft device gives you 13.5 hours of video playback. That is more than enough for two 2-hour movies streaming on Netflix.

Other Considerations

This is a tablet that can turn to a small computer if you have the keyboard docked. It connects to the internet via Wi-Fi only, and there is no cellular option like the first option above. Sound output is also exceptional via the external speakers, and you have an opportunity to use the headphones via the 3.5mm jack.

If you need to connect to the stereo via Bluetooth, that is also possible. The included ports here are the USB 3.1, and mini display. For the latter, it’s useful when you need to connect to a bigger screen.

Bottom Line

The Microsoft Surface Pro 6 will never disappoint you if all you want is to stream from Netflix. Carrying single movies is also not a problem, but you may need more space. While you may be angry that the accessories are not included, using it to watch movies is a breeze.

  • Wide display area
  • Casing included
  • Long battery life
Cons
  • Low RAM
  • Low resolution

If you want to play movies using a tablet with better sounds, then the Samsung Galaxy Tab A is your best choice. This one has a gold color, and it’s Android, too, as expected. Most tablets don’t come with enough accessories, but the addition of a cover here makes it great apart from providing additional protection and support.

Performance

The Galaxy Tab A has quite a fast processor, but the RAM is not that much. You get 3GB only, which may be perfect for streaming and offline watching but not multi-tasking. For the processor, it has 1.8GHz speed with eight cores. The storage is also somewhere between acceptable and needing an upgrade.

Having a Netflix account and streaming may not require much of the storage, but carrying movies may call for expansion via the micro SD slot. It comes with 128GB in it and Android 9.0 Pie, which is one of the updated OS. Since its Samsung, expect to find most of the apps already installed.

Display

The screen stretches to 10.1 inches, which is perfect for close-range viewing. Since the tablet is quite thin, the cover becomes useful in adding the necessary extra thickness. For the resolution, it’s 1920 x 1200 pixels, which is okay for the screen, but we have witnessed higher values on smaller screens.

All the touch gestures are welcome as you watch among other tablet tasks. The graphics card in play is the BMali-G71, and it’s okay for display and color vividness. Connecting to other devices can only be done via the USB-C or Bluetooth connectivity.

Portability

Carrying Tab A from one point to another means you will be dealing with 1.03 pounds of weight. The thinness makes the cover useful for the protection, but it also has a stand at the back. That is essential when you don’t need to hold the tablet as you watch.

The screen is 10.1 inches making it the right size for a tablet. So, even throwing it in a bag will not be a problem. Samsung devices are known to keep the charge. This one will render 13 hours before the next recharge. The time may be less depending on the usage, but it has a fast-charging capability, thanks to the USB-C presence.

Other Considerations

There is no cellular connection here. On the other hand, Wi-Fi has a 5.0 GHz frequency. You will appreciate the sound experience delivered by the Dolby Atmos tuned speakers if you don’t have some headphones. Due to Bluetooth presence, which is also 5.0, you can pair wirelessly to other devices or the stereo in the house.

The tablet comes with a USB-C cable, adapter, and a tigology case.

Bottom Line

The Galaxy Tab A offers an excellent way to watch by being light and having a considerably large screen. It also comes with a cover which we highly appreciate. It may not be faster, but the RAM and processor are sufficient for online streaming. If you need to carry a movie or two, that is also possible due to the ample storage space.

Pros
  • Large drawing and viewing surface
  • Battery-free stylus pen
  • Multiple connections
Cons
  • Needs connection at all times
  • Quite heavy

If you are a graphic designer who also likes movies, then you can buy a drawing tablet that will suit both. The Huion Kamvas 20 GT-191 V3 has a large drawing area that can also work as a perfect display for movies from a computer. There is a lot of work and inconvenience if you want it for videos only, though.

Performance

Since it’s dedicated to drawing, you need to connect it to power and the computer at all times. That also means the movies’ source should be via your computer. It uses both USB and HDMI to connect in addition to the power source. It has no express keys to utilize for shortcuts, but you can make use of the pen.

It has two buttons to change between the pen and mouse. It also delivers a pressure level of 8192 with a 266 PPS report rate. For the screen, it can sense the pen moves when its 100mm away, and you can tilt the pen to 60 degrees.

The GT-191 V3 model does not come with an OS. That leaves you with the option to download the necessary drivers form the KAMVAS website, and they are regularly updated from there. The good thing with using it is that there is no trouble after connecting it properly.

Display

The screen is 19.5 inches, with almost equal bezels on all sides. What you may wish for is a higher resolution. This one will give you 1920 x 1080 pixels. It’s also quite thick, which makes more room for the hands, but you don’t want to hold it for long due to the size. In addition to the USB and HDMI, there is a VGA and DP port for higher resolution output.

The pen has a 5080 LPI resolution, which is standard for drawing and annotation purposes. Viewing from different positions is never a problem. The screen has a 178-degree viewing angle and a laminated display, which reduces the glare.

Portability

You will be dealing with 19.5 inches of screen size so, this is not one of the portable ones. It’s also 10.56 pounds heavy. That means the stand will be more useful here. That is why we appreciate the 20-80 degrees adjustable levels. The Kamvas 20 will also depend on power at all times, so it’s not very movable.

You will like it more in the house instead of outdoor. The pen is battery-free, so you don’t have to worry about that. The manufacturer also added a stand for the pen, and that’s great. It also acts as a nibs’ storage.

Other Considerations

For both drawing and movie watching, you will depend on the accessories that come with the tablet. The cables include the HDMI, USB, power adapter, and AC. For the designers, there are ten extra nibs in the stand and nip clip.

It’s compatible with both macOS and Windows. So, there are no problems experienced if your computer has the right connections.

Bottom Line

You will not like the Kamvas 20 GT-191 V3 if you want it solely watching movies. It, however, serves as a great combination when you need it for both drawing and watching. It’s not movable, but it provides a large display area, and that’s one of the vital requirements when you are on Netflix or watching downloaded movies.

Cons
  • Low storage space
  • Needs wall socket for faster charging

For the movie and Netflix lovers, the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Plus will be our next discovery after the purchase. It’s equipped with everything you need for perfect movie watching and regular tablet use. It’s one of the few tablets that you will find with a projector and an amazing audio experience.

Performance

The Yoga Plus model is quite a remarkable one when it comes to its general usage. In it, you get a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with eight cores. The RAM is 3GB, and that’s a combination that can keep a tablet fast. You are, however, advised to reboot it after a few days of use if you don’t want dragging issues.

For the storage, it needs more from an additional microSD card. It has 32GB only in it, and considering it has Android 6.0 marshmallow, the space is way less. If you, however, don’t need to store much and already have a Netflix account, you are good to go here. The OS version is also upgradable to 7.0 after purchase.

Display

The display from the ZA1N0007US is one of the best. The screen is only 10.1 inches, but it has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. That is quite okay for a clear and crisp presentation, no matter the time of the day. It’s also quite thin for holding, but the base is quite thick to give room for stability and the small projector lamp.

While you get a maximized screen space, the shorter bezels are also thicker, which gives more room for your fingers. It also has a wide-angle view that enables you to use it while standing, angled, or flat on the table. That is why it’s suitable to move with it anywhere.

Portability

The screen is quite small for all-time use. What you will love is how you can use the stand or flat on the table. It’s also 1.32 pounds only so, carrying it is not a problem. The best part is that you can project the movies when you want a bigger screen instead of searching for ways to connect to a bigger screen. You can use the headphones if you want to, but this Lenovo is equipped with four JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos tuning. At low levels, the sound has a hissing sound, but it gets better when the volume is half-way going upwards.

You will not be disappointed by the sound quality even when outside. This model also gives you ample time to watch movies. It can stay for 18 hours to a whole day, depending on how you use it. It also has a fast-charging capability

Other Considerations

It also has Bluetooth connectivity if you need to amplify the sound. There is no LTE capability here, but the Wi-Fi is quite strong. You will need that for Netflix streaming, among other internet uses. It’s all touch here with no pens, and charging it is fast via the USB-C port.

You need to connect it to the wall socket if you want it to be full in 2 hours or less. Other connections may result to slow charging.

Bottom Line

The Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Plus joins our best tablets for watching movies and Netflix due to obvious but incredible reasons.  It has a projector lamp, and you can also use it at different angles without incorporating a stand. It comes with a small one which is sure of its work while in use.

The only thing you may want to expand is memory space.

Cons
  • No LTE capability
  • No accessories

You have already seen another Apple as our first choice. This iPad Mini is not different from the one above, apart from the fact that it has no LTE capability. The rest of the specifications are quite the same. Here is how it looks like when you get it for movie watching and Netflix.

Performance

This model also comes with the A12 Bionic chip that combines with 3GB RAM. That is quite okay for online Netflix streaming, which may consume more processing power than the downloaded movies. It’s also quite fast, thanks to the hexacore combination. The storage is also ample.

It comes with 256GB worth of storage and an updated iOS12, which is upgradable to the latest one. You can use a pen on this one, but you have to buy it separately. Anyway, that may not be too necessary since Apple is full of gestures.

Display

As expected, Apple display is always stunning. This one has 1536 x 2048 pixels on a 7.9-inch screen. As you watch, the only thing you will be wishing is that it’s bigger. Apple devices are slim, and this Mini model is also one of them. So, if you would like to order a cover later, we wouldn’t blame you.

Holding is never a problem when in landscape mode. The shorter bezels are thicker for that. If you would like to connect to other devices, it’s only via the lightning cable or Bluetooth.

Portability

Since it’s one of the small tablets we are reviewing, there is more easiness in carrying here. It’s only 10.6 ounces heavy, and the screen is only 7.9 inches big. Therefore, moving with it in the house or outdoor will never be a problem.

It may not stay for long as you watch, but it will keep the charge for an average of 10 hours after a full charge. Charging is again via the lightning port, and it’s fast when connected directly to a socket.

Other Considerations

The audio is quite okay when the tablet is in loudspeakers. You also have the option so using the 3.5mm jack for wired headphones or Bluetooth types. The space gray model comes with a lightning cable and a power adapter. Connecting to the internet is via Wi-Fi only. That’s the difference between this model and the one above.

For any other accessories, you may have to buy them separately, starting with the pen that costs about $120.

Bottom Line

Having an Apple iPad Mini as your movie and Netflix watching device is always a great option. It never disappoints on moving picture quality, and it’s also fast. There is also ample storage for movies you may want to carry if you are on the move. The only thing that it will depend on is Wi-Fi when streaming from Netflix.

Cons

  • No keyboard

Huawei will give you an excellent watching experience if you choose their world. Here is the Matebook Signature that comes with Windows on a high resolution. The screen size is also within an acceptable range to be converted to a PC, not to mention it’s too light, sleek, and thin.

Performance

The modern designed Signature model has a CPU with a faster clock than its predecessors in the m3 category. The 6th Gen m5 Intel core processor on this one achieves a clock speed of 2.7GHz, and that’s great for the 4GB RAM. Such rates are present in PCs, which makes it a suitable converter to PC.

Further, it comes with Windows 10, which makes it easy to integrate your work if you are a Windows user. In the tablet, there is less than 128GB left since it comes with Windows. Streaming with it on Netflix is quite okay, but you may not store more movies if you want more than the space left.

The Huawei has no microSD slot meaning you have to improvise with adapters.

Display

We can say it gives one of the best pictures and video displays. The 12-inch screen renders 2160 x 1440 pixels, and it has a wide viewing angle of 160 degrees. Therefore, perfection follows your eyes no matter how you are seated. It’s also one of the thin tablets we are reviewing.

It’s only 0.27 inches thick, and the bezels are thin but equal on all sides. So, you are bound to feel that there is little room for your hands and fingers. The back part is all metallic, and that is not a problem unless you are multi-tasking which will make the tablet to overheat.

Portability

Being a sleek tablet means it has shed off the unwanted weight. That is why the Signature is only 1.40 pounds only. You may need a cover after using it for a while if there are kids involved. The 12-inch screen makes it quite large, and due to the thinness, there is a need to bring in extra support.

Battery consumption depends on whether you are watching offline or streaming. Anyway, after a full charge, the Matebook model will go on for the next 9 hours. Charging is via the single USB port is quite fast, though.

Other Considerations

This tablet is compatible with the MatePen stylus, but you have to buy it separately. It also comes with a fingerprint sensor on the side which fastens recognition and access. You can use the keyboard on this one but, again, it’s not included.

Connecting to the internet is via Wi-Fi only, and this one has 802.11 ac standards. Apart from a USB-C cable and adapter, it doesn’t come with any other accessories.

Bottom Line

The Matebook Signature tablet is the right choice if you are running tasks on Windows but still want a movie watching device when you are free. The resolution and graphics are one of the best, plus it’s highly portable. The only flaw which Huawei needs to consider is the lack of an SD slot, which leads to a lot of improvisation.

Pros
  • Sturdy build
  • Quite portable
  • Long battery life
Cons
  • Quite slow
  • Old model

Now, do you want a sturdy tablet to watch movies with the old feel? Here is Blackberry Playbook PRD-38548-003 that may not have much memory or screen space, but it’s built to stay. Blackberry devices have proved to be tough, and this one is no different.

Performance

Well, the PRD-38548-003 is quite slow, and you may want not to overload it. The RAM is 1GB only, and the processor has a clock speed of 1GHz. Therefore, it’s one task at a time here. On the other hand, streaming only or watching, in general, will be smooth if that is all you will be doing.

Despite being sturdy for your watching and work, it only has 64GB, which prompts you to get more storage if you are not on Netflix. Considering that it also has the Blackberry OS, with customized applications, the room is way less. Also, if you are an Android or iOS fan, this is not the tablet for you.

Display

You only get 7 inches of screen space, which is quite small. The pixels, however, suit the range even to give you better imagery. It’s 1024 x 600 pixels, and that’s quite okay. Now, what you can complain about or not is the thickness on this tablet. It’s suitable for holding ability since its quite large but the bezels could be thinner.

They give more stability as you watch, but that makes everything to get concentrated at the center. Anyway, thanks to all the thickness, this is a tablet that you can throw and use anywhere.

Portability

Even with the extra thickness, it’s not heavy. It’s only 14.1 ounces heavy, and given the size, it’s effortless to carry. It may appear bulkier if you have an extra cover, so there may be no need for that.

It also stores charge for quite a long time. Ten hours on average, as you watch is within the range of some of the latest models we have already reviewed.

Other Considerations

The tablet comes along with the charging cable and adapter. Being a 2011 tablet, you don’t expect much from it, though. It connects perfectly to the internet via Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. So movie streaming will be okay. Listening with the speakers is not the best but still within the hearing range.

You will want to use the earphones more often for quality hearing.

Bottom Line

If you want a Blackberry tablet for movie watching, then it means you know what you need. This is not for the Android or iOS diehards because most of the apps in those worlds are not here. If you, however, love such a device that will give you long-term use, then the PRD-38548-003 should be your choice.

Cons
  • Poor battery life
  • Low storage

For those on a budget, it does not mean there is no tablet for you. Fusion5 comes with Windows 10, and you will spend lower the $200 to get it. It’s deprived of some features hence the lower-ranking, but it will still finish a series or those long movies without any hitches.

Performance

Being a Windows tablet, then there must be an Intel processor somewhere. This one has the quad-core AtomTX X5-Z8350 type, and its fast for your tasks and gestures. The Fusion5 also possesses a 4GB RAM, and that makes it another tablet that will not cause Netflix buffering as you watch.

What this tablet does not have is enough storage. Movies and series consume a lot of space if you need them offline, and this one has 64GB only with Windows 10. That creates the need to innovate with micro SD cards and other external sources. The good thing is that it’s a tablet equipped with slots and connections.

Display

The screen sits at the center, and its 10.1 inches. They could have given more screen space if the bezels were thinner, but you may also need more thumb room as you hold it. The resolution is also entirely okay, standing at 1280 x 800 pixels.

It’s quite thick but still within the acceptable range. The gray color dominates the tablet, but the bezels are black. For the surface, it’s quite smooth, and it’s not resistant to fingerprints.

Portability

At 10.1 inches and 1.52 pounds, this is a tablet that you can handle anywhere. There are compatible covers for it, but you have to choose wisely if you are used to connecting it to other peripherals. Since it has no much storage, you will want to utilize the 3.0 USB port more.

It is not a charge keeper which prompts you to utilize a power bank if you are on the move. It will, however, give a decent six hours before charging it again. Also, you will be carrying the USB disks and external hard drives more if you have not included a micro SD.

Other Considerations

What you will appreciate about the Fusion5 are the ports on it. There is a slot for the SD, the 3.0 USB port, HDMI, and USB-C. So, apart from connecting the externals, you can also share it with a larger screen. It connects to the internet via Wi-Fi, and there is no LTE capability.

You can listen via the external speakers, but it also has Bluetooth 4.0 for wireless connection to the stereo. For quiet listening, there is a standard 3.5mm jack for the earphones.

Bottom Line

This is an affordable Windows tablet for those who don’t need pricy devices. It will not give long battery life hours, and the storage is also minimal. What you will appreciate, though, are the ports on it and the ease of use.

10. Samsung Galaxy Tab S2

Pros
  • Thin and lightweight
  • Excellent display
  • Long battery life
Cons
  • Less storage
  • Old model
  • Old OS version

Lastly, we have the Samsung S2 model that has the picture quality you would like. It’s quite small while on your hands, but it’s not the smallest we have seen. The SM-T813NZKEXAR is another device with less memory space, but it was quite sufficient during its reign back in 2015.

Performance

The processor here is Qualcomm and not the Exynos in the T-810 model. It’s quite powerful since its octa-core with 1.8GHz and 1.2GHz clock speeds on each of the quad-cores. The RAM size is 3GB, and the combination gives you a fast tablet even after five years in the market.

What you will want to expand is the memory space and maybe the operating system. It only has 32GB in it, but the memory slot permits up to 256GB. Also, it comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but you can upgrade it to 7.0 Naught. Since it’s an older model, it may not be compatible with the recent Samsung TVs from 2016 models.

Display

The AMOLED display on the tablet has a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution. That is quite high, considering it’s an old model with 9.7 inches on the screen. Everything is clear here, and the screen is well maximized. There are, however, the former Samsung navigation buttons at the bottom.

It’s quite thin, with one of the sides hosting the volume tuners and the power button. At the bottom, there is a jack port if you don’t want to use the dual speakers.

Portability

It’s not that large, so holding it is okay, but you will want to use one hand here instead of two. Tablets are never meant to be heavy, and this one is 13.8 ounces. Samsung covers are readily available, so if you need one to protect the T-813, then it’s easy to get one.

When it comes to power and charging, that is where you will like the tablet more. It takes about three hours to charge it fully. After that, it will give you 12 hours of video playback and 103 hours of music play. It comes with the standard USB cable with 2.0 specification, which is also readily available.

Other Considerations

The only ports you get on this tablet are the 3.5mm jack and the USB. That means you will not get many accessories apart from the charging cable and adapter. The model we have here is the Wi-Fi version, but you can get one that permits SIM Card use (AT&T).

Speakers from Samsung have been quite okay, but this one needs improvement when compared to the models we have already reviewed. That is why you will need the Bluetooth 4.1 more or the headphone jack for auxiliary connections.

Bottom Line

If you don’t mind going five years back for a tablet that will help you in watching, the Samsung T-813 is a better deal. It may be outdated if you are trying to link it with other recent Samsung devices, especially the TV. On the other hand, it will never fail as you stream from Netflix or watch offline.

Specs Recap

Conclusion

Now that you have reached the end of the review, you have some questions and considerations to make already. You need to answer and make the decisions so that you don’t buy the wrong device.

If you ask us here, we will tell you to go for the Apple iPad Mini. On the other hand, if you want something simple to share with family, the Fusion5 also does not sound like a bad investment. The budget will rule over wants, especially during these times.

Go ahead to choose the best tablet and let us know what you are watching if you don’t mind.
